This year I have been on a bit of a fear and horror trip. For this piece I wanted to depict a disaster that could happen in space. I couldn't think of anything worse than a ship getting ripped apart by a black hole and wanted to paint this just past the beginning of that moment of the airlock failing and sucking everything out into the black hole, including our astronaut friend there. The very moment I painted the fraying cable tie on the door, my wife looked up and shuddered, and that is when I knew I had the right feel to the piece.
This piece might be the best depiction of hopelessness I may have ever done. I might have to dial it back some.
